Julie Bullock is a self taught Abstract/Expressionist artist from Redding, Ca. She is the owner/artist of Doodlebug Designs. She has been creating colorful paintings since 2009.  She works with different mediums including; Acrylic on canvas and Alcohol Ink on glass and other non porous substrates. Julie’s style is abstract expressionism and full of color. She claims to be an intuitive painter, “I dont sit down with a preconceived notion as to what I am going to paint. I grab the colors that I am feeling, take a deep breath, and allow the image to emerge organically”.

Julie has been showing her Alcohol Ink on glass paintings since May of 2016, attending many shows. She was recently accepted into the Highland Art Center in Weaverville, Ca. As well as Art Smart Boutique in Redding, Ca.  While doing a show in Chico, Ca, she was interviewed by The Chico News and Review newspaper, who published the interview as a ‘Featured Artist’.  She has also showed at the Treasure Island Art Market in San Francisco, and Jack of All Trades in Oakland. Another show to add to her resume is  Trinity Lake Wine and Jazz festival and multiple arts/craft shows in surrounding areas.

After leaving her desk job, she decided that she wanted to pursue a career as a professional artists. In May of 2016, she did just that.  She has sold over 250 paintings since her first show in May. On the weekends she is not attending various events, she is also teaching ‘Creative Chaos’ workshops.   Julie is enjoying her new career, and encourages people to follow their dreams.  Her purpose is to show everyone that they all have a creative side, and encourages her clients to relax and enjoy the process. She teaches different techniques, and the basics fundamentals of alcohol inks.
