Dorothy Turk was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area. She traveled and
camped with her family in the Sierras as a young girl. From these adventures she
developed an early appreciation of the beauty of nature. The years of raising her
family were a special gift, allowing her to see the world with wonder and amusement
through the eyes her of children.
Several years ago, Dorothy saw the works of Linda Tuma Robertson with her huge
skies and bright colors, and Charles H Pabst with his wonderful bold light, as well
as Robert Burridge who brought humor and fun to his works. Each of these artists
contributed to ideas in her mind and caused her to want to add her own vision and
voice to the world around her through her paintings. “I enjoy pushing color and finding
the light with paint. I especially love the deep rich colors and blending possibilities
that can be achieved with oil paints.”
“I find subjects for my artwork everywhere, in common everyday objects and in
regal and magnificent landscapes, and I strive to reflect the beauty of nature and the
grandeur of God’s creation, and add a bit of whimsy in all I paint.” Dorothy currently
lives and paints in Redding, California where she is a Signature Member of the Grand
View Fine Arts Society.
