A native of Northern California, I grew up and spent most of my life north of Sacramento. An 8 year sojourn in the Seattle WA area brought me a degree in Interior Design, and a love of the watercolors that I began using in my design work. After returning to the Redding area, I retired from design, and began concentrating on painting for my own pleasure. To be able to capture the wonderful colors that I see, and realistically portray the light and how it affects the subject is a constant goal of mine.
Watercolor is the main focus of my painting but I have been experimenting (playing) with acrylic paints and having a lot of fun with them, too. The most important emphasis (for me) is to bring out all of the colors that I see, and to make the light bounce in and out of the shadows.
It is important to me to share with my community, and to help elevate appreciation of the Arts. I belong to the North Valley Art League, the Friends of the Arts at Turtle Bay, the Shasta County Arts Council, and have shown my work in Sacramento, Sutter, Butte, and Shasta counties.
